The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed today that Philippines is still MERSCoV (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona-Virus) free. “We still do not have an active case of MERS-CoV,” said DOH spokesperson Dr. Lyndon Lee-Suy in a press briefing this afternoon.
Dr. Lee-Suy said three South Korean nationals who were tested for the said virus were all negative of the MERSCoV. “The results of the laboratory tests already came out and they are negative for MERS-CoV.”
The three were referred by the Manila Doctor’s Hospital after they sought consultation due to flu-like symptoms that they had experienced after their arrival here in the country last week.
They were earlier considered as persons under investigations (PUI) after exhibited signs and symptoms of MERSCoV such as fever, cough and diarrhea.
