Philippine Army confirms that complete delivery of 28 upgraded M-113 is set. “Eighteen will be delivered by May 11 and the remaining 10 will handed over on July 11,” PA spokesman Lt. Col. Noel Detoyato said in a message to Philippine News Agency. Elbit will be upgrading 28 M-113 granted by US Defense Security Cooperation Agency to the Philippines. The said upgrade has a contract price of USD2 million.
Four will be fitted with 25mm unmanned turrets to act as infantry fighting vehicles, six with 12.7mm machine gun on remote controlled weapon stations configured as armored personnel carriers. Fourteen will be installed with fire control systems for 90mm turrets to act as fire support vehicles. Final four will be turned into armored recovery vehicles.
