Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin confirmed that a defense wishlist is already in the hands of Japanese defense officials. The list consists military equipment that the Philippines plans to acquire from Japan.
Gazmin confirmed this to state news agency. He said all equipment in the list are to address maritime security.
Philippines and Japan have come up to a strengthened bilateral defense cooperation and exchanges based on Strategic Partnership in the recently concluded Japan-Philippines Defense Ministerial meeting held last January 29, 2015 in Tokyo, Japan.
Regular high level defense and military meetings have also been scheduled. Philippine Navy and Air Force will also conduct training and capability building together with their Japanese counterparts. Both countries also agreed to explore possibility of cooperation in the area of defense equipment and technology.
