Philippine Navy announced, December 23, that the soon to be acquired two state-of-the-art brand new frigate will be paired with two brand new anti-submarine helicopter, government-run Philippine News Agency reports.
Captain Alberto Carlos, Chief of Naval Staff for Logistic said that early next year contracts for both acquisition projects will be awarded and signed early next year.
According to Captain Carlos, these tandems will provide the country with the much needed boost to secure Philippine waters. He noted that building these assets takes three to four to be completed.
AgustaWestland is the lone eligible bidder for the anti-submarine helicopter acquisition project of Department of National Defense. It offered its AW159 Wildcat.
