July 27 declared special non-working holiday to commemorate INC’s centennial anniversary

“The President signed Joint Resolution no. 2, declaring 27 July 2014 as a special non-working holiday to commemorate the founding anniversary of the Iglesia ni Cristo,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. revealed on Sunday.

Under Proclamation No. 815, series 2014, President Aquino declared 2014 as Iglesia ni Cristo Centennial Year.

Aquino recognized Iglesia ni Crito’s “contributions in national development,” saying that “it is appropriate that the occasion be marked and commemorated by declaring 2014 as Iglesia ni Cristo Centennial Year.”

Proclamation No. 815 also stated that “Iglesia ni Cristo is the largest home-grown Christian church in the Philippines established by Brother Felix Y. Manalo.”

July 27, 2014 falling on a Sunday will not give much impact to employers and employees in terms of compensation.

On the said date, nearly two million INC members are expected to meet at the Philippine Arena, largest domed indoor arena in the world, in Bocaue, Bulacan to celebrate the religious group’s 100th anniversary.
