China: No country will be allowed to violate our sovereignty

The Chinese government has expressed grave concern over US media reports regarding United States Navy’s plan to send warship within the 12 nautical miles of fake islands created by China in West Philippines Sea. “We are gravely concerned about the media report,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said in a press conference today.

The Chinese spokesperson added that China always respects international law and has maintained freedom of navigation and overflight in South China Sea (West Philippine Sea). However, she stressed that China will never allow any country to violate China’s territorial waters and airspace in the Spratly Islands.

“We urge the parties concerned to refrain from any provocative words and deeds, and play a responsible role for regional peace and stability,” she added.

It was reported that the US Navy is waiting for US President Obama’s approval to send a warship, either a destroyer or a littoral combat ship (LCS), near China’s fake islands to demonstrate that it is international waters.
