Vietnam decries China 4G network in disputed territory

China Mobile’s 4G signal coverage in Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago is “wrongful and invalid”, Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh said at a press conference yesterday. “We have affirmed repeatedly that Vietnam has indisputable sovereignty over Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos,” he said.

“All activities taken by other countries without the permission of Vietnam in these areas is completely wrongful and invalid,” Binh said in response to a reporter’s question about Vietnam’s reaction towards China Mobile’s launch of 4G networking.

Binh also said that Vietnam, like the international community, is closely following the issue of migration in Europe.

“We believe the EU authority must take both temporary and long-term actions to resolve the issue in a humane manner and in accordance with relevant international commitments to ensure long-term peace,” he said. (PNA/VNS)
