Myanmar Air Force drops bomb in China

A Myanmar Air Force jet accidentally dropped a bomb inside China’s Yunnan province. Yunnan shares a border with Mayanmar’s Kokang region which is currently a self-administered zone according to the new Myanmar Constitution. On February 17, 2015 Myanmar President Thein Sein declared a state of emergency and three month period of martial law in Kokang in response to fighting between government troops and the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army, a Kokang insurgent group.

The accidental dropping of bomb was confirmed by Chinese government. “On March 8, stray bombs hit the Chinese side and damaged a civilian residence. Luckily, no one was injured or killed,” Chinese foreign ministry said.

China asked the Myanmar government to “take effective measures to ensure that such incident will never happen again.”
