China angered by ‘fascist’ label

China was angered with ‘fascist’ label in a Sydney Morning Herald article dated March 3, 2015 written by Peter Hartcher. “This newspaper should be ashamed of its ridiculous and ignorant remarks. It must immediately deal with this case in a serious manner,” Chines Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said in a press briefing March 4.

Fascist is synonym to authoritarian, totalitarian, dictatorial, despotic, autocratic, undemocratic, illiberal. The Sydney Morning Herald published the article entitled “IS, Russia, China: all fascist states.”

“China continues to advance its claims on the territory of its neighbours. Although it’s been smart enough to tone down its rhetoric in recent months, it has quietly raced ahead with building military bases and fortifications in four separate parts of an island chain that is also claimed by five other nations of Asia,” says in the article.

“The US has described the accelerated Chinese construction program as “destabilising” and asked Beijing to desist. China, the world’s second-biggest military spender, has paid no heed,” the article adds.
