Saudi Arabia King Abdullah dies

“His Highness Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and all members of the family and the nation mourn the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, who passed away at exactly 1 a.m. (6 a.m. Philippine time) this morning,” Saudi Arabian state-run TV network said in a statement.

Prior to official announcement, the network aired Koranic verses signifying a death of senior royal blood. The king, 90 years old, had been hospitalized for several weeks.

Saudi Crowned Prince Salman is now the new King of Saudi Arabia.

“As a leader, he was always candid and had the courage of his convictions. One of those convictions was his steadfast and passionate belief in the importance of the US-Saudi relationship as a force for stability and security in the Middle East and beyond,” United States President Obama immediately gives condolences.
