Hillary Clinton wants Manny Pacquiao as endorser

Manny Pacquiao’s promoter and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum revealed that US presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton requested him in a private dinner to encourage Manny Pacquiao to endorse her for 2016 US elections. However, Clinton is yet to officially announce her candidacy.

“A really good sportsman is interested in the people around them. In government, they want the best political leaders to be elected and Manny is that type of sports person. Coincidentally, before I left Gensan and Hong Kong, where I was with Manny, I was at a dinner and sat next to Hillary Clinton,” told Arum.

Clinton is a former First Lady of the United States, United States Secretary of State and U.S. Senator. She was also one of the leading candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008 US election. Clinton had visited the Philippines when she was Secretary of the State.

“She said ‘Bob, I don’t know if I’m gonna run for president but if I do, you gotta get Manny Pacquiao to come over and help me,’ and Manny has real interest in the American politics,” Arum said.

Aside from the fact that Pacquiao is popular, there are no less than 3.4 million Filipinos residing and citizens of the US who can be encouraged to support the former first lady’s candidacy once she gets a yes from Pacquiao.

The boxing superstar is no stranger to US endorsements. Nike, Henessy, State Street, Hewlett-Packard are among the brands that Pacquiao had endorsed. Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada who won in the last senatorial elections was endorsed by Pacquiao. All of these are proof that the boxer is an effective endorser.

According to Arum, Pacquiao is doing well with his training. Pacquiao, who is one of the Top Rank’s most prized boxer is preparing for his upcoming fight with Chris Algieri on November 22.
