Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said over a press conference, “I will end it when our goals are realized. And the overriding goal is to restore the peace and quiet.”
Isreal’s Prime Minister’s declaration comes after calls to halt Israel’s airstrike missions.
“We’re using anti-missile systems to protect our civilians, and they’re using their civilians to protect their missiles – that’s the difference,” Israel said.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said, “I firmly condemn the multiple rocket attacks launched from Gaza on Israel. Such attacks are unacceptable and must stop.”
“I also urged Prime Minister Netanyahu to exercise maximum restraint and to respect international obligations to protect civilians. I condemn the rising number of civilian lives lost in Gaza,” Ban Ki-Moon added.
“I also encourage leaders on both sides to do their utmost to end all attacks — including provocations and attacks by Israeli settlers. Extremism in all its forms is fuelling the cycle of violence,” the Secretary General said.
“Israel is conducting a vigorous military campaign against Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the other terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip. Hamas has chosen to attack our cities with massive and indiscriminate rocket fire. I said from the outset that we would respond in strength against this criminal firing at our citizens and this is what we are doing,” Israel PM said in a release.
Israel’s goal is “the restoration of quiet for a long period while inflicting a significant blow on Hamas and the other terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip. The IDF (Israel Defense Force) is prepared for all possibilities,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu added.
