Chinese newspaper: Japan wants a war again

The Chongqing Youth News published a map of Japan with images of ‘mushroom cloud’ above Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the first and only part of the world who suffered from nuclear warfare.

The headline for the full page publication was “Japan Wants a War Again.”

Japan reacted with emotion.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told reporters that Japan will not tolerate this kind of depiction. Saying the newspaper was extremely imprudent. “And it rattled the nerves of atomic bomb survivors and their families.”

“As foreign minister of the only country that has suffered nuclear attacks, and as a politician from Hiroshima, I cannot tolerate this,” he told reporters. “I issued an instruction to check the facts with the paper in question speedily through the consulate in Chongqing and, if it turns out to be true, to lodge a stern protest.”

China released a statement regarding Japan’s reaction. “The war of aggression waged by the Japanese militarists has brought grave sufferings not only to its Asian neighbors, but also to its own people. Recently, Japan keeps taking negative moves on historical issues and stirring up troubles. It also has made some major policy adjustments in military and security areas which are unprecedented. All these have raised great concerns from its Asian neighbors. We hope Japan can learn its lessons from history and follow the path of peaceful development so that the historical tragedy will not repeat itself in the future.”

The Hiroshima and Nagasaki attack was carried out by the United States of America during the second world war. However, in the present time, Japan and US defense alliance is at its best.
