The Maritime Safety Administration of China said in its website that Nan Hai Jiu Hao oil drilling platform will be moved to its new location at 17°14.1′ North latitude and 109°31′ East longitude in the East Vietnam Sea.
The platform is expected to be in placed by Friday towed by a tugboat. The China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) owned oil rig is 600 meters long and weighs 21,714 tons. It can move at four nautical miles per hour according to China’s maritime administration.
This movement is after China’s State Councilor’s visit to Vietnam reached no fruition. In the said visit both countries iterated violations made by the other against the other appearing that they have agreed to disagree.
