Gilas Pilipinas bags its third win in the 2015 Jones Cup at the Xinchuang Gymnasium in Taiwan today. The team scored 75 while the Japanese squad scored 60. Gilas Pilipinas came from a strong win against Russian pulling off an 85-71 win.
“It’s a good experience and good win for the team,” said Gilas coach Tab Baldwin after winning against Russia yesterday, September 1.
“What I liked the most was that we played with our roles – the shooters getting their shots, the rebounders getting the rebounds. From that standpoint, it’s a team win,” Baldwin said.
Overall standing as of posting time: Iran 4-1, Philippine 3-1, Chinese Taipei A 3-1, Spartak Primorye (Russia) 3-1, USA Overtake Select 2-3, South Korea 2-2, Wellington Saints (New Zealand) 1-2, Chinese Taipei B 0-3, Japan 0-4.
The Philippine team is scheduled to face Iran tomorrow, September 3 at 1 pm; Wellington Saints (New Zealand) on September 4; USA Ovetake-Select on September 5; and Chinese Taipei B on September 6.
