The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has expressed its willingness to assist in manning traffic along North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) on Saturday with the expected influx of vehicles for Eat Bulaga’s AlDub event at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan. MMDA officer-in-charge Emerson Carlos said the agency is willing to send team of traffic enforcers to assist the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Bulacan if they need help in the management of traffic along NLEX on Saturday.
“Kung hihingi ng tulong yung Bulacan PNP kasi as of now wala pang request pumupunta lang kami doon kapag may request,” Carlos told reporters Wednesday.
During earlier events of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) in Philippine Arena, Carlos said the MMDA deployed additional men along Balintawak and Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City, both entry and exit points in NLEX. Carlos added that during INC events at the Philippine Arena, MMDA usually send a 200-man team to assist in traffic management along NLEX. He said they expect a huge volume of private vehicles as there are no buses from Metro Manila that directly transport people to the Philippine Arena.
On its Facebook post late Monday night, the Philippine Arena has confirmed that the 55,000 tickets, the seating capacity of the multi-purpose indoor arena, for the popular “Eat Bulaga” special fan day this Saturday were sold out. If the figure is factual, Carlos is advising motorists to expect heavy flow of traffic along NLEX heading towards the Philippine Arena.
He said he already instructed MMDA’s Traffic Discipline Office head Atty. Crisanto Saruca to be ready for the deployment of their traffic enforcers.
