Filipino light flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes and super bantamweight fighter Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire are set to fight separate opponents in front of Filipino crowd in ‘Pinoy Pride 30: D-Day’. The double header event will be held on Saturday, March 28 at the Araneta Coliseum.
Nietes, who is the longest reigning boxing champion in Philippine boxing history will defend his World Boxing Organization light flyweight belt against Gilberto Parra of Mexico. Nietes holds 34-1, 20 Kos record. While Donaire holds a record of 33-3, 21 Kos. The Filipino Flash will battle for the vacant North American Boxing Federation title against William Prado of Brazil.
D-Day will also feature fights of undefeated Filipino Albert “Prince” Pagara’s vs Mexican Rodolfo “Fofo” Hernandez for the International Boxing Federation Intercontinental Junior Featherweight title; Ryo Akaho of Japan against Prosper Ankrah of Ghana for the WBO International Bantamweight title; and featherweight AJ “Bazooka” Banal fight against Junior Bajawa of Indonesia.
