Valerie Hernandez of Carolina, Puerto Rico won as Miss International 2014 Tuesday, November 11 at the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan. The 21-year-old student and model was crowned by Miss International 2013 winner Bea Santiago of the Philippines.
Binibining Pilipinas International 2014 Bianca Guidotti fails to get a spot in the semi-finals of this year’s Miss International pageant.
Candidates from Thailand, United Kingdom, Finland, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Indonesia, Argentina and Puerto Rico successfully made to the top 10.
Aside from Valerie other winners are first-runner up Zuleika Suarez a 20-year-old from Colombia, second runner-up a 22-year-old model and student Punika Kulsoontornrut of Thailand, third runner-up Victoria Tooby a 20-year-old accountant of the United Kingdom and fourth runner-up a 21-year-old hair stylist Milla Romppanen of Finland.
There were 73 candidates who vied for Miss International 2014 crown. The pageant is intended to promote “love, peace and excitement to the world” while the candidates are expected to function as “ambassadors of peace and beauty, serving tenderness, generosity, friendship, beauty, intelligence and a great international sensibility’, according to Miss International.
