Jake Cuenca bags best actor award in New York

On October 23, Jake Cuenca received his first best actor award in the 2014 International Film Festival Manhattan at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Consulate General in New York.

The actor was acknowledged for his role in the independent film ‘Mulat’. Whereas, Diane Ventura, the director of the film bagged the Best Director for a global feature.

The film Mulat is about a young man who falls in love for a mysterious woman with a “strange mental affliction.”

Jake shared his success on his social networking site account. He posted, “Never won best actor in the Philippines. But certainly felt sweet winning it here in the states.”

On another social networking site account, Jake posted a photo of his award, along with his director with the caption: “Yup that just happened! To God be the glory this is my first international award and I just won best actor.”

Aside from Jake, Aiza Seguerra’s fiancé, Liza Diño was also awarded for her portrayal in the movie ‘In Nomine Matris’, which was named Best Feature Film directed by Will Fredo. In the Short Film category, actor Mark Justine Aguillon won as Best Actor.
