Pinay X-Factor Australia winner thankful to Filipino supporters

X-Factor Australia has found its newest singing talent on October 20, 2014. Fifteen year old Marlisa Ann Punzalan whose parents are both Filipino residing in Australia was announced as the six season’s grand winner. The youngest winner in X-Factor’s history received a recording contract with Sony Music Australia.

The 9th year student of Mercy Catholic College got four yeses and a standing ovation from the four mentors during her audition. ‘The Beatles’ song ‘Yesterday’ was her ticket during her audition and made her the grand winner. Irish singer Ronan Keating, Marlisa’s mentor is very much proud of her after she beat Brothers3 and Dean Rey.

Marlisa is thankful to all who supported her. “It’s probably the fans out west and the Filipinos. I am really grateful, I couldn’t have done it without them.”

After being declared as the winner, Marlisa sang her first single “Stand By You,” which is now available for download on iTunes. On November 7, 2014 her self-titled debut album, Marlisa, will be released.
