The Voice of the Philippines coach Lea Salonga shared the stage with the Search for a Star grand champion Rachelle Ann Go during the 25th anniversary gala celebration of Miss Saigon last Monday, September 22, 2014 in London. The two singers sang a song from Miss Saigon entitled “The Movie in My Mind”. The West End revival was produced by Cameron Mackintosh and directed by Laurence Connor.

Miss Saigon is a musical by Claude Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil which portrays the tragic love story during the Vietnam-US War of an American lieutenant and a Vietnamese bar girl. The musical had its premiere in the West End on September 20, 1989 at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

Leah played the original role of Kim who is a seventeen-year-old orphan girl whereas Rachelle Ann plays the role of a stripper named Gigi in the musical’s revival this year. At the Prince Edward Theatre, Leah and the original cast members of the musical Simon Bowman and Jonathan Pryce surprised the audience when they appeared on stage at the end of the show.

In Rachelle Ann’s social networking site account, she expressed her gratitude to Leah for asking her if she was going for an audition for Miss Saigon. Rachelle also said that Leah is her inspiration and thank those who helped her reach her dreams.
