Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president, Gilas Pilipinas number one supporter and business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan was elected as member of FIBA Central Board.
The last time a Filipino held a position in the international board was last 1976 to 1984 when Gonzalo Puyat II was FIBA President.
Pangilinan earlier confirmed that Philippines will bid to host 2019 FIBA World Cup.

On the other news, MVP thanked VP Binay for eyeing him as a running mate in 2016 elections but MVP said his decision is final that he is not running for a public office.
MVP also confirmed that Gilas Pilipinas will be playing at ASIAD in South Korea but without Andray Blatche. He added that Olympic Council of Asia agreed to let Marcus Douthit play.
Confirmed Blatche out. OCA agrees to Marcus and Jimmy plus any replacement due to injury.
