Manny Pacquiao to experience ‘toughest baptism of fire’ in PBA

“We have talked a lot about that in Spain. The concession is that if Pacquiao can really play, well and good. If not, he can expect the toughest baptism of fire in his life,” Gilas Pilipinas player Gary David said as reported by PhilStar.com.

“As for myself, I really intend to defend him very hard in the event we’re matched up with one another. Jayson [Castro] and LA [Tenorio] were saying they will steal the ball on him.”

Manny Pacquiao will be playing at the same time coaching the PBA expansion team Kia Motors. He was the over-all 11th picked in the recently held PBA draft.

“We don’t want a bad precedent set. We’re thinking after him, there might be those rich basketball-crazy guys, not really deserving” to say they can easily join the country’s professional basketball league.

David said that they, with other Gilas players, will give the Filipino boxing pride a hard time in PBA. “Don’t expect us to go easy on him.”

Gilas players say they will ‘protect’ their profession and want only the ‘deserving’ in PBA.
