In a report by GMA news, Tuesday, former actor and Quezon City congressman Dennis Roldan was found guilty of kidnapping by the Pasig Regional Trial Court. Roldan was sentenced to life imprisonment or ‘reclusion perpetua’ and will be brought to New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.
Co-accused Octavio Garces was reportedly acquitted while two other accused, Adrian Domingo and Rowena San Andres were also found guilty.
Roldan’s legal counsel, Orlando Salatandre, Jr. said they will file a petition before the Court of Appeals.
It was recalled that Roldan, whose real name is Mitchell Gumabao, was arrested on February 20, 2005 for allegedly organizing the abduction of then three-year-old, Filipino-Chinese Kenshi Yu, who was later rescued unharmed in Quezon City’s Cubao district.
Roldan posted bail in 2006 and left Pasig City jail where he was detained after the arrest in February 2005. Since his bail in 2006, he later claimed to be a full-time pastor of Jesus Christ the Life Giver Ministry based in Quezon City.
Roldan is the father of young actor Marco Gumabao and De La Salle University spiker Michelle Gumabao who participated in the reality-show Pinoy Big Brother All-In a few months ago.
