After being challenged by former professional wrestler Dave ‘Batista’ Bautista, who did the Ice Bucket Challenge himself, Nonito Donaire responded by getting dunked in ice water.
Yesterday, August 20, Donaire uploaded his ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) ice bucket challenge via Facebook. He said, “This is MY#ALS Ice bucket challenge! @alsicebucketchallenge We put this together in only a couple hours of getting challenged by Dave Bautista (Batista). We heard people were complaining of 2 things: no money donated and water wasted. So we Vegas styled it up! Every ball thrown had a price to throw on it so all that (we raised around $5000 and counting) goes to #als and we STILL got dunked for charity!”
Usually, a bucketful of ice water is poured over the heads of those who accept the challenge. But for Donaire’s twist, people will donate $200 for “each ball thrown at specific lines just to dunk me”.
After responding to the the challenge, the reigning WBA featherweight champion has now dared Manny Pacquiao to do the same.
The Ice Bucket Challenge dares nominated people to film themselves while the ice water is poured over their heads. They have 24 hours to comply or forfeit by making a charitable financial donation.
