The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Thursday placed on “blue alert” all its provincial units lying on the path of tropical depression (TD) “Kabayan”. In an phone interview, Mina Marasigan, spokesperson of NDRRMC said on Thursday it would activate the agency into blue alert status requiring half of its personnel to be ready for contingencies.
”This afternoon, the NDRRMC Operations Center will be raised to blue alert. So there will be members of the national council who will be rendering duty here at the Operation Center just to ensure the monitoring of the movement of tropical depression Kabayan,” Marasigan told the Philippines News Agency.
She added that they already advised the regional councils to prepare not during the entry in PAR, but as it nears in the land.
”We are now providing more information to our local councils there so that they may not only put on standby their response teams but also preposition their goods already should there be a need for a preventive evacuation,” Marasigan noted.
