Caucasian-looking man in Mamasapano ops is a SAF trooper

After President Benigno Aquino III dismissed the ‘alternative’ version of what transpired during the Mamasapano Special Action Force operations which killed international terrorist Zulkifi bin Hir alias Marwan and 44 SAF troopers, the issue of a dead Caucasian-looking man caught on video is now getting a clearer answer.

Virgie Viernes, widow of SAF trooper Police Officer 1 Oliver Viernes, told GMA News that the dead Caucasian-looking man caught on video is without a doubt her husband. However, Viernes reportedly still wants to reopen the investigation specially on the participation of the President, former SAF commander Getulio Napeñas Jr. and former PNP chief Alan Purisima.

Prior to the report, some quarters including leftist group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) are calling to reopen the investigation to give light on the real involvement of US government in the said operation.

Bayan Secretary General Renato Reyes said “the Senate should reopen its probe on the Mamasapano incident and uncover the real role of the United States in the botched operation. That a US soldier was among the dead indicates that the US was deeply involved in actual combat operations and may have been directing movements on the ground. The dead US soldier was embedded in a unit of a SAF. This combat role for the US violates anew the Philippine Constitution.”

The US government, in many times, denied the allegation that a US serviceman was killed in Mamasapano operation.
