Iglesia ni Cristo countdowns to 2014 centennial anniversary

Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), a religious denomination founded by Felix Manalo in 1914 that originated in the Philippines, conducted evangelical medical mission with the theme ‘Kabayan Ko, Kapatid Ko’ (My Countrymen, My Brethren) which aimed to lend a hand to poor and to draw more believers. The evangelical mission started 9 a.m. yesterday which involved preaching, distribution of religious pamphlets, and Bible study sessions onstage, while its free medical and dental services started an hour after until 7 p.m.

The event is part of their centennial anniversary countdown in 2014 and also an approach to enlighten its members and reach out to others especially in times of need. It took place at the intersection of Recto and Quezon Boulevard beside Isetann Mall and Far Eastern University. It was attended both by members and non members of the religious group which summed up to 1.6 million.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised the public to take alternative routes to avoid the heavy traffic in major and minor streets of Manila. Due to million people and service buses parked in streets, MMDA impelled suspension of classes in the whole NCR and some offices. National Capital Region Police Officers arrived at the venue by 5 a.m. to guarantee peace and order during the entire event.
