Malacanang on Friday attributed the arrest of five Chinese nationals with PhP50 million worth of drugs to the government’s determination to stop the menace of illegal drugs in the country. “This is a concrete evidence that the government is determined to stop the curse of illegal drugs in our country,” said Communication Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma in text message to Palace reporters.
Last Thursday, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs-Special Operations Task Group (RAID-SOTG) seized 10 kilos of shabu worth PhP50 million from the Chinese nationals in a buy-bust operations in Quezon City.
NCRPO Chief Inspector Roberto Razon Sr. identified the arrested Chinese nationals as Chang Cheng Xu, Zheng Yong, Xiong Bun Sy, Guo Weng and Alexander Go Jua.
Under new Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police Director Ricardo Marquez, the PNP has intensified its campaign not only against illegal drugs but other illegal activities particularly carnapping.
Last week, the Quezon City Police District Anti-Carnapping Group (QCPD-ANCAR) killed suspected car thieves following a shootout with policemen in Quezon City.
