Senator Miriam running for President: ‘This country will be much better’

Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago said today that she is running for the highest post in the country. She will file her certificate of candidacy this week, Santiago said during a meet and greet event for her book ‘Stupid is Forever More’.

“If I become president sometime in the very near future, this country will be much better that it was before. Today this country suffers from the malaise of plunder,” said Santiago who has been fighting cancer.

She also said that her running mate is a ‘he’ who already declared vice-presidential bid, but did not disclose right away.

In the recent days Senator Santiago has hinted her candidacy. She posted on Facebook a throwback video captioned with “I first ran for president in 1992, against politicians who had at their disposal both money and machinery. I, on the other hand, only had the will of the people behind me.”

“I urge you to choose leaders based on academic distinction, professional excellence, honesty, and integrity,” she said in another post.
