Pilot killed, student injured in Bulacan trainer plane crash

A pilot was killed while his student-pilot was injured after their trainer plane crash-landed at the end of runway 35 of Plaridel airport in Barangay Agnaya, Plaridel, Bulacan Tuesday afternoon, airport authorities said.

Initial reports from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) show that a C152 type trainer aircraft crash-landed at 4:46 pm. CAAP said that pilot in command Capt. Arthur Rebollido and student pilot James Oquialda were taken to the hospital by the CAAP rescue team.

However, Plaridel Airport area manager Eduardo Lansang said that Rebollido died while on the way to the hospital. Oquinalda, who sustained a fractured skull, remained under observation.

The area manager said that doctors were still trying to stop the internal bleeding before transferring Oquinalda to bigger hospital.

CAAP said that the aircraft, with the registry number RO-C8691, was a total wreck when it was found.

Reports said that the aircraft was performing touch-and-go at Plaridel Airport from 4:00 p.m. to 4:46 pm. Investigation on the incident is still ongoing, CAAP said.
