A 66-year-old man died of suspected cardiac arrest on Thursday while waiting for his flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 departure area, airport authorities said. In an incident report, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said that information from a security guard said that the man, identified as Fampilo Dela Cruz Arcega collapsed at the departure area at about 2:12 a.m.
MIAA further said that two responding medical teams—the arrival area medical team and ramp medical team who came at 2:13 a.m. and 2:18 a.m. respectively, found Arcega lying on his left side with initial vital signs absent.
The medical teams immediately started giving the Arcega resuscitation and hooked him to automated external defibrillator, started giving him IV fluids, and other necessary medical procedures.
However, the patient was pronounced dead after more than an hour of efforts to revive at 3:30 a.m. where all vital signs remained absent.
MIAA said that Arcega’s body was later endorsed to his son, Rowel.
It was also noted that Arcega also suffered from diabetes.
