The House Committee on Appropriations has approved today the PhP230.5 million 2016 budget of the Office of the Vice President in 11 minutes. OVP Chief-of-Staff Undersecretary Benjamin Martinez presented the OVP’s budget in behalf of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Committee chairman Representative Isidro Ungab and Representatives Nicasio Aliping and Mariano Piamonte asked a few questions.
The said OVP’s budget will be used by VP Binay’s office operations during his last sixth months in office, while the operations of the new Vice President, who will be proclaimed next year, will be funded by the said proposed budget during his first six months in office.
Meanwhile, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) is proposing P435.9 billion for the country’s education sector. Education is getting the biggest pie in the proposed P3.002-trillion 2016 national budget.
