Air Force weightlifters won big in Thailand, eyeing 2016 Olympics

Two Philippine Air Force weightlifters, Airwoman Second Class (AW2C) Hidilyn Diaz and Airman Second Class (A2C) Nestor Cordova, bagged one silver and five gold medals in the Asian Weightlifting Championship being held in Phuket, Thailand from September 3-12, 2015. According to Air Force Diaz and Cordova are set to join Invitational 2015 IWF Grand Prix in Fuzhou, China, on September 21-23 to qualify for the 2016 Rio de Janiero Olympics.

“AW2C Diaz played in the 26th Women’s senior category in the class of 53 kg. She lifted a total weight of 214 kg and was able to get three gold medals,” the Air Force said.

While A2C Cordova pushed his limit and went for a total lift of 274 kg and was able to get two gold medals and one silver in the 45th Men’s Senior Category in the class of 56 kg.
