Tourist blatantly breaks Davao city’s anti-smoking ordinance, swallows cigarette butt

An unnamed local tourist who was in Davao City for the Kadayawan Festival last month blatantly disobeyed city’s strict anti-smoking ordinance. According to a report, written by Manny Piñol posted in a Facebook page encouraging Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to run for president, the local tourist swallowed the cigarette butt after Mayor Duterte reportedly “pulled out a snub-nosed .38 revolver and poked it at the man’s crotch.”

The report said the tourist insisted to light a cigarette while drinking beer in a restaurant even after the owner warned that smoking in public places is prohibited in Davao City and Mayor Duterte is strict in implementing it. The tourist instead replied, “On whose orders? Bakit pera ba ni Duterte ang binibili ko ng sigarilyo?”

“The arrogant response irked the restaurant owner who is a friend of the Mayor. He immediately alerted the police and asked them to inform Duterte personally of the defiant smoker,” says in the Facebook post.

Minutes later, the mayor arrived. “Witnesses said Duterte calmly sat beside the smoker, pulled out a snub-nosed .38 revolver and poked it at the man’s crotch,” says in the post.

“Papiliin kita: barilin ko ang b…g mo, i-preso kita o kainin mo ang upos ng sigarilyo mo,” Duterte reportedly told the smoker.

The smoker reportedly muttered “Sorry Mayor,” picked up his cigarette butt and swallowed it.

Witnesses said that before Duterte left, he told the smoker: “Never ever challenge the law.”
