Magnitude 6.1 earthquake jolts Davao Occidental

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a magnitude 6.1 earthquake in the province of Davao Occidental Wednesday morning.

Phivolcs added that the tremor occurred at 9:18 a.m. and the epicenter was traced 155 kilometers southwest of Sarangani in Davao Occidental (04.23°N, 124.75°E – 155 km S 31° W of Sarangani).

The tremor, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 312 kilometers.

Phivolcs said there was no casualty/damage reported from the temblor but aftershocks are expected.
