Filipino, Japanese top military officials meet at General Headquarters in Manila

The top military official of Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) made a visit to Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-Staff General Hernando DCA Iriberri Wednesday at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City. The Japanese official, JSDF Chief Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano is in the country for the Pacific Partnership 2015 (PP15).

The AFP said Admiral Kawano and his party came for a courtesy call to CSAFP 3:30 p.m. of August 12 at the AFP General Headquarters.

“We discussed matters on how to further strengthen our military-to-military relationship based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Defense Cooperation and Exchanges which was signed by both our countries’ defense establishments,” General Iriberri said. The Filipino General declined to provide specifics.

Admiral Kawano will be in the country until August 14 to observe activities under the PP15.

PP15 is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Asia-Pacific Region.
