A total of 55 provinces received 80 brand new fire trucks on behalf of their constituents August 7 at Camp Vicente Lim in Calamba, Laguna. The brand new fire trucks are part of the total 469 units that will be distributed to cities and municipalities which do not have fire trucks or have dilapidated ones.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said the total number of procured fire trucks is composed of 244 units of 1,000-gallon capacity fire trucks and 225 units of 500-gallon capacity fire trucks, all scheduled to be delivered to upgrade the firefighting capability of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
“The fire trucks are equipped with a pump-and-roll mechanism. This mechanism enables the trucks to shoot water even while the truck is moving,” DILG said.
During the ceremony at Camp Vicente Lim, Secretary Mar Roxas said the government will exhaust all means to uplift the condition of Filipinos, especially those who are serving the people in the frontlines like policemen and firemen.
Roxas said more will come until all the cities and municipalities in the entire country have their own brand new, reliable and working fire truck and a fire station that can be utilized immediately during times of need.
