United States Navy hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) is now on its way to Subic for the second half of its Pacific Partnership 2015 mission in the Philippines. The 16-day first half was in Roxas City, Philippines. USNS Mercy will be in Subic Bay August 5-14, continuing Pacific Partnership subject matter expert exchange events and community relations projects while the ship undergoes routine maintenance, US Navy said.
During the first stop of the Philippines mission, U.S., partner nation, and host nation service members and non-governmental organizations conducted subject matter expert exchanges, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief symposiums, engineering projects, veterinary events and provided direct medical care in the Capiz Province, the US Navy said.
According to US Navy, the mission in Roxas City saw an increase in the number of partner nations involved in the mission, with Japan, Korea and Malaysia joining the U.S., Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.
After its mission in Subic, the hospital ship will proceed to Vietnam.
