Binay urged to issue ‘True SALN’ after delivering ‘True SONA’

Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano said after Vice President Jejomar Binay delivered his ‘true’ State of the Nation Address (TSONA), the Vice President should issue his true Statement of Assets, Liabilities, & Net Worth (TSALN). In his 42-minute speech delivered at the Cavite State University (CvSU) gymnasium, Binay expressed his dismay over President Benigno Aquino III’s failure to include several issues and controversies in his own SONA last week.

Senator Cayetano, however, criticized VP Binay’s decision to deliver a counter-SONA at a time when he himself is being tagged in several corruption issues.

Cayetano added that Binay should prove first his innocence in the alleged overpriced Makati City Hall Building II and Makati Science High School Building. “Up to now, he has not provided a clear-cut explanation regarding his alleged ill-gotten wealth. The public deserves transparency, the truth, & honest leaders who are accountable for their actions. VP Binay has given them nothing but motherhood statements and mere politicking,” the senator said.

In an interview with DZMM today, Binay said “ang malungkot na parte sa akin, ‘yung sinasabing pagka sinabing korupisyon e Binay ho yun.” VP Binay added that amid corruption allegations he was not suspended nor convicted.
