Philippines, Taiwan call for joint research project proposals

The Manila Economic and Cultural Office- Taipei Economic Cultural Office (MECO-TECO) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) call for mutually beneficial and collaborative project proposals, which can be submitted until December 31.

Proposals must be sent to DOST, and the Taiwanese counterpart should submit the same proposal with the same title to MOST for a separate review and evaluation. Projects approved by both parties will be implemented on June 1, 2016.

Proposals should fall under any of the following identified areas for cooperation: Genomics, Nanotechnology, and Biotechnology for Agriculture; Water Resource Management; Volcano, Ocean, Typhoon, and Earthquake; Climate Change and Environment; Omics for Personalized Medicine; Use of Sensors towards Smart Cities (intelligent transport system, smart buildings, road condition monitoring and digital health for senior citizens).

The modes of cooperation include joint research/study, exchange of scientists/technical experts, capacity building, scientific and technical access to facilities, provision of professional services, organization of scientific conferences, symposia, training courses, workshops and exhibitions, and the Sandwich Scholarship Program (SSP).
