A total of 155 foreigners mostly Chinese nationals are facing deportation after being caught working in the country without proper documents, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Tuesday.
BI spokesperson Elaine Tan said the foreign nationals, who are working as call centre agents/online gambling operators were apprehended on Monday, July 20, 2015 for failure to present the necessary immigration documents to allow them to work.
She added the foreign nationals were charged with deportation under Section 37(a)(7) of the Philippine Immigration Act for being improperly documented.
Early this week, the BI operatives raided an office located in Pasay City and caught the subjects in the act of working, after getting a tip from a concerned individual.
The arrested foreigners were brought to the BI main office for inquest proceedings.
