Detained Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr. on Monday formally asked the Sandiganbayan to give him a five-hour furlough so he can visit his father, former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr., in the hospital. In his petition, Revilla thanked the anti-graft court for allowing him to visit his son, Cavite Vice Governor Ramon “Jolo” Revilla, at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa last March 3.
“In a similar manner, Senator Revilla comes before this Honorable Court, respectfully seeking for this Honorable Court’s compassion and understanding to allow him, this time, to visit and spend a few moments with his ailing and weak father, former Senator Revilla Sr,” the petition read.
Revilla is asking the court to allow him to visit his father for at least five hours, preferable on July 14-15 from 3 pm to 5 pm.
The senator is detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame facing plunder and graft charges in connection with the pork barrel scam.
Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado, Revilla’s wife earlier said the older Revilla was rushed to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Global City last Saturday.
Atty. Raymond Fortun said the elder Revilla has pneumonia.
“Nakakausap po siya ngayon, gising naman po. Kahapon medyo hindi makausap at matamlay na matamlay po talaga. Talagang medyo nag-alala po ang pamilya. After one day na nasa hospital, as expected, meron namang magandang pagbabago sa kanyang condition,” Fortun said.
