Proclamation No. 1070, s. 2015 declares July 17, 2015 as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan). Republic Act No. 9177 has declared Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan) as a regular holiday throughout the country every year.
A Proclamation is signed by the President before the start of every new year declaring exact dates of Regular Holidays (specially Maundy Thursday and Good Friday), Special Non-Working Days and Special Holidays for schools, however, Eid’l Fitr’s date varies depending on the moon therefore a separate Proclamation is needed to declare the regular holiday every year.
“In order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Friday, 17 July 2015, as a regular holiday throughout the country,” states in Proclamation No. 1070, s. 2015 signed by President Aquino.
“The entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr,” says in the Proclamation.
