The Chinese government, on Monday, expressed its strong dissatisfaction with Philippines’ three-part documentary entitled Kalayaan. China said the documentary creates groundless criticism. China’s Foreign Ministry added that President Aquino’s government is hyping up the West Philippine Sea Issue creating tension between Chinese and Filipino people.
Government of China “is deeply concerned about the sitting Philippine government’s hyping up of the South China Sea issue and fueling of confrontation between the Chinese and Philippine peoples,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said.
The Chinese Ministry added that Philippine government is misleading and deceiving the public to gain sympathies and play as the “victim”.
China maintains the position that it owns all the island in South China Sea including the Kalayaan (Spratly) Island Group in West Philippine Sea.
The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs said the three-part documentary Kalayaan is part of the nationwide Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign to increase the level of Filipinos’ awareness and understanding of the issues relating to the West Philippine Sea.
First two of three episodes were already released. First episode is Karapatan sa Karagatan and the second episode is Pamanang Karagatan. The third episode and its release date is yet to be announced.
