Three bandits from New People’s Army were killed in an encounter with 69th Infantry Battalion troopers at Purok 7, Barangay Paradise Embac, Paquibato District, Davao City early morning of Sunday. Eastern Mindanao Command public affairs office chief Captain Alberto Caber said the clash started 12:05 AM, state-run news agency reports.
Government security forces recovered one M-14 automatic rifle, two unexploded improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and a number of backpacks. No casualty on the side of government forces.
69IB commander Lt. Col. Rodney Intal said the clash with the rebel force stemmed from the extortion and harassment complaints of the local residents.
Residents from the said barangay have identified two of three casualties.
As of June 14, there were 38 NPA bandits killed and 72 high-powered firearms captured within Eastern Mindanao area of responsibility since January 1 this year.
