Senator Chiz Escudero is calling on President Aquino to consult the Congress and Senate regarding the possible visiting forces agreement with Japan. He told dzBB radio that the administration and executive branch has nothing to lose. He said doubts will arise if the administration will only present the agreement at later stage.
President Aquino told Japanese reporters “the Visiting Forces Agreement [with Japan] will have to be passed and approved by our senate. But we will be starting discussions on all of the details embodying this.”
“The relevant entities will start discussions leading up to a Visiting Forces Agreement,” Aquino said.
“Currently, the Philippines has only two Visiting Forces Agreement, one with the United States of America, and most recently in the past has been the one with Australia,” he added.
