PHL, Norway ambassadors to Pakistan killed in helicopter crash

Asim Saleem Bajwa Director General of Inter Services Public Relations of Pakistan Military confirmed, in his micro-blogging account, that a Pakistan army helicopter carrying foreigners and nationals crashed Friday, May 8. Six people including Norwegian envoy Leif Larsen and Philippines ambassador Domingo Lucenario Jr. were killed, while thirteen survived with injuries at different levels.

“One MI-17 helicopter out of 3 carrying visitors had a crash landing at Naltar,” the Military official said. Onboard the said helicopter were eleven foreigners and six Pakistanis.

Bajwa added “2 pilots, 4 foreigners fatalities. (Ambs Philippines, Norway, wives of Malaysian and Indonesian Ambs). Injured-Polish & Dutch Ambs.”

“Fifty-seven people, including 32 men, 20 women and five children were on their way to Naltar, Gilgit on a Foreign Office-organised trip when one of the three helicopters crashed on the way,” Tribune.com.pk reports.

Reason of the crash is yet to be known.
