China calls for peace as Philippines, Japan display maritime cooperation

Coast guards of Philippines and Japan recently conducted a joint maritime law enforcement exercise at the vicinity waters off 1.8 NM Northwest of San Antonio, Cavite City. Japan’s PLH22 Yashima with its assets consisting of a Bell 412 helicopter and rigid hull inflatable boat participated in the said event.

During the exercise, two coastguards simulated a search and seizure procedure.

The joint exercise aimed to enhance capabilities to combat piracy and armed robbery at sea, acquire knowledge and skills in conducting airlift rescue operations, and establish friendship and mutual understanding.

In light of this display of maritime cooperation between two nations, China calls for peace. “It is hoped that countries in the region will work as one, contribute more positive energy and make more positive efforts to build up mutual trust and uphold regional peace and stability,” the communist country’s foreign ministry said.
