President Benigno Aquino III left the country today for a working visit to Chicago, USA and state visit to Canada.
“Our first stop is Chicago for a short but we expect it to be a successful working visit. We will meet leaders of big companies with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and US-ASEAN Business Council,” the President said in his departure speech delivered in Filipino.
He will also meet with the Filipinos in Chicago where the largest Filipino community in Midwest United States can be found.
After his short stop in Chicago he will go straight to Canada for a state visit from May 7 to 9, at the invitation of Governor General David Johnston and Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada.
In Canada, Aquino and his counterpart Prime Minister Stephen Harper will witness several bilateral agreements including labor cooperation, development assistance, and infrastructure development.
